The question
To create a safe environment for their employees with regard to shower and drinking water, there was a need for legionella control. Legionella bacteria can be found in various water sources and when they multiply and are inhaled from aerosolized water droplets, they can cause Legionnaires' disease. Symptoms can range from flu-like symptoms to severe pneumonia, especially in individuals with compromised immune systems or breathing problems.

In their search for the best solution for legionella control, they chose disinfection using UV-C and chose VGE Pro as their supplier. UV-C disinfection uses ultraviolet light with a specific wavelength (about 254 nanometers) to destroy the DNA and RNA of microorganisms, including legionella bacteria. UV-C light effectively neutralizes pathogens and prevents their reproduction, making it an efficient and chemical-free disinfection solution.

The solution
The company in question has opted for two UV systems from VGE Pro. Thanks to this UV gatekeeper system, they are assured of safe water that can be used for drinking and showering, among other things. Upon entry, the water passes through the UV installation with a maximum of 5 m³/h. Quality is assured by means of a UV-C and temperature sensor and warnings and alarms are automatically forwarded to the building management system.
